About Guadeloupe
It is an archipelago of Caribbean islands located in the Lesser Antilles. It is an overseas department of France. Guadeloupe’s two main islands are “Basse-Terre” to the west and “Grande-Terre” to the east. The department also includes the smaller islands of “Marie-Galante” and “La Désirade”, and “les Saintes”.
The island was called “Karukera” (or “The Island of Beautiful Waters”) due to its numerous polls and waterfalls. It is bathed by the Atlantic ocean and the Caribbean sea and has fantastic beaches. Thanks to its tropical climate, daily temperatures vary from 22°C to 30°C (72°F to 86°F) while water temperature vary from 20°C to 28°C (68°F to 74°F).
Conference venue
The Conference will be held in the University of the French West Indies (UA), Campus of Fouillole, near Pointe a Pitre, economic center of Guadeloupe.
All conference and meeting rooms are equipped with video projection and video conference devices, air conditioned and free wifi. “L’esplanade” and “La gloriette” are places surrounding the Caribbean Sea, in front of the setting sun, from which it is possible to appreciate a nice view on “la Marina du Gosier” between two conference sessions.
Accomodation
We recommend the hotel “Village Soleil” which is (less than) 10’ walk from the conference venue. It is situated 10’ from the airport.
The hotel offers 62 standard (single/double), executive (single/double) and duplex (triple/quadruple) studios with a delighting view over the sea, the gardens or the pool. Delegates will enjoy its large swimming after a hard day of work.
All studios are air-conditioned and have a private bathroom, kitchen, balcony, TV and free Wi-Fi.
It surrounds the Marina where delegates will find many restaurants, bars to enjoy local as well as French, Italian, Chinese, Japanese or American food.
 
Special prices have been negotiated for delegates selecting the hotel “Village Soleil”.

Listings at other hotels
